In the spirit of community service, students, staff, and families organized fundraisers and contributed to disaster relief funds for areas impacted by this past hurricane season.

In September students participated in Relax4Relief by wearing pajamas and contributing to funds in support of communities hit by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Florida and Texas. In November students participated in Crazy Hat Day and contributed to funds to support recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.

Fifth graders raised awareness for relief by visiting classrooms during morning meetings to gain support for fundraising efforts. In addition to cash, children made cards of encouragement to send along with their contributions. FLES teachers Dayana Melendez and Angeles Silva shared Puerto Rico's disaster needs with some of their Spanish classes.

As a result, Penn Wynne raised a total of $5,669.35 that has been donated to the United Way Recovery Fund and Veterans Disaster Relief Fund to support recovery in Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico!

This is what makes us Penn Wynne Wonderful! #pennwynneproud
