Penn Valley raises $15,660 for the American Heart Association
Penn Valley raises $15,660 for the American Heart Association

Penn Valley Elementary School recently participated in the "Kids Heart Challenge" - a fun and exciting event where students learn about their heart while helping others as they raise money for the American Heart Association. Through Kids Heart Challenge, students learned jump rope skills and how their heart works all while fundraising for kids suffering from heart-related health problems.

On the evening of the event, students, staff and family members gathered in gymnasium at Penn Valley to jump rope for an hour-and-a-half as all of the participants not only got an excellent cardiovascular workout, but also ultimately raised $15,660 for the American Heart Association. Over the past eight years, the Penn Valley community has raised more than $84,000 through this program.

Special thanks goes out to event organizer Jeniene Randazzo, as well as the many volunteers who made this year's event such a resounding success: Lauren Lipowicz, Clare Roper, Steve Roper, Joanne Wood, Melissa Murphy, Daniella Erez, Jennifer Hausmann, Dan Smith, Irma Payan-Walters, Elaine Masotti, Michelle Detwiler, Hallie Lightdale, Chris Randazzo, Ofrit Barash, Jennifer Sensenbrenner, Tatiana Lopez, Michele Lowey, Marta Villaraga, Kendra Placek, Missy Levin, Lisa Prosnitz, Jenia Keating and Ellen Von Eck for her assistance in collecting and organizing the donation packets.

The event also received major support from Margaret Conrad of the American Heart Association; Mr. Luttrell; the custodial staff; volunteer nurse Theresa Ditunno; and the Home & School Association (HSA), who provided the funding for musical entertainment during the event. It truly was a community-wide effort. Incredible job, Penn Valley!
