Penn Valley celebrates diversity at Cultural Heritage Night
Penn Valley celebrates diversity at Cultural Heritage Night

Cultural Heritage Night is one of Penn Valley's largest and most diverse events of the year bringing together the community across generations and cultures for a fun-filled and educational evening. The program highlights the countries, histories and family traditions of students in celebration of the rich cultural diversity that makes up the Penn Valley community.

The school was alive with the sights, sounds and smells of many countries throughout the world as the hallways and classrooms were filled with colorful and educational displays created by students and parents, each sharing their unique heritage and culture through a wide range of visuals. All participating families were encouraged to share something about their background by setting up a table with a map, music, artwork, samples of food or traditional clothing. LMSD's Strategic Plan, "All Forward," provides a framework for a collective, intentional and positive approach to change. Its five aspirational pathways guide us toward continual innovation and transformation to further educational excellence for every student. This event serves as an example of Strategic Pathway #2: Transformative Curriculum. To learn more about #LMSDAllForward and the Strategic Pathways, click here.
