Middle School Transition Planning
Middle School Transition Planning

Dear LMSD Community,

Despite the pandemic, LMSD is continuing to work towards the opening of our third middle school in September 2022. On Wednesday morning, May 5, at 8:30 a.m. at the Curriculum Committee meeting, I am going to present our Administration's proposal for how students will transition into the new school when it opens and how the other schools will transition from our current K-5 elementary/6-8 middle school model to our future K-4 elementary/5-8 middle school model.

This infographic explains the basics of the recommendation that I will share. The presentation Wednesday morning will include additional information about why we are making this recommendation. I will present again to the full Lower Merion Board of School Directors at the Education Committee/Supplemental Board Meeting on Monday evening, May 10, 2021, at 8:00 p.m.

The Wednesday morning Curriculum Committee meeting will be held via Zoom. The Monday night, May 10, meeting will be in-person in the Lower Merion High School Auditorium (capacity is limited), will be livestreamed on the District website and will be available via Zoom. Zoom and livestream information will be posted on the Board Meeting Schedule page of the District website prior to the start of each meeting.

After you review the infographic and then watch the presentations, I urge you to share your feedback and questions about the proposal by visiting and completing the survey there, or by emailing the Board at The survey will be open from May 11-June 1. Your feedback will help inform the Board prior to their vote and will help the Administration address concerns that may arise. The Board is expected to vote on the proposal at its meeting on Monday evening, June 14, 2021.
