LMSD Teachers Celebrate Their World Cup Anniversary
LMSD Teachers Celebrate Their World Cup Anniversary

On Sunday, October 20, 2019, two Lower Merion School District teachers will travel to Maryland to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their winning the 1989 Women's Lacrosse World Cup.

Christina Poplawski, who teaches Art at Bala Cynwyd Middle School, and Kathleen Geiger, who teaches PE at Penn Wynne, were both members of the 1989 U.S. Team that took home the gold from the Women's Lacrosse World Cup tournament in Perth, Australia.

Both women played lacrosse at Temple University, where they won the 1984 NCAA national championship, and were three-time All Americans.

Their current students might get a kick out of finding them in the team photograph.

(Ms. Poplawski is in the middle of the middle row, with her hair tied back, and Ms. Geiger is seated on the far left of the bottom row).

Congratulations, again, to our winning teachers!
