Many people remember sitting in their classrooms on the first day of school, while teachers handed out new textbooks and other supplies. This year, with Lower Merion's approximately 9000 students beginning the year in virtual instruction, distributing those much-needed supplies will look a bit different.
School staffers and members of the Information Systems and Curriculum departments are prepared to distribute textbooks, devices and other resources at all ten bricks-and-mortar schools for students to bring home.
At Lower Merion and Harriton high schools, the distributions began this week. Bala Cynwyd and Welsh Valley middle schools will start their distributions on Monday, August 31, 2020, and all six elementary schools will begin their distributions on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020.
Parents and guardians should look for emails from their principals with exact dates and times. Elementary students enrolled in LMVA and LMSD@Home will follow the same process and times as the other students in their home school and grade, unless the principal indicates a specific additional time.
As a reminder, masks must be worn and social distancing maintained during the pickup process.
