LMHS Senior Raises $20,000 for Diabetes Research

Jonathan Berman, a Lower Merion High School senior, recently traveled to Florida to deliver a check for $20,000 to the Diabetes Research Institute.

Berman was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a seven-year-old. He started his "Power of One" fundraising efforts by asking friends and family to donate $1. He also hosted yard sales and sold "Beat Radnor" bracelets.

He explains his fundraising in this Facebook video.

Berman, who spent the summer working as a counselor at a camp for children with diabetes, exemplifies the Lower Merion School District motto, "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve."
