Friday evening, June 2, 2023, brought lots of smiling faces to Vernon Young Park in Ardmore, as students who participate in IMpact at Black Rock Middle School invited students who participate in RARE at Penn Wynne Elementary School and the STEM Peer Mentoring Group at Gladwyne Elementary School, along with their families, to a picnic.
The current and future Royals and their families had an opportunity to get acquainted, as they enjoyed dinner and all of the playground equipment.
IMpact seeks to build community, develop leadership and amplify the voices of students of color at Black Rock Middle School through exploring race, culture and identity. RARE is an affinity group for students of color at Penn Wynne. At Gladwyne, members of the STEM Peer Mentoring Group work with students from Harriton High School's chapter of the National Society for Black Engineers to encourage excitement about studying and pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
