The Junior Olympics has been a part of Lower Merion School District's Elementary Physical Education program for more than 60 years. Each spring, the fifth-grade students participate in a track & field unit and, upon completion of that unit, take part in a fun-filled and competitive culminating event as students from all six elementary schools gather at Lower Merion High School's Arnold Field for a morning of track and field events, including the Tug-of-War, High Jump, Long Jump, 60 Yard Dash, the 4 x 100 Relay and more. Tuesday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bala Cynwyd Library first floor meeting room
The eight-member team topped all other competing districts in this year's competition, which challenges the knowledge and skills of drivers in a series of events focusing on student safety, driver professionalism and service excellence.
The two-time Caldecott Honor recipient recently spoke with students about her career as an author/illustrator, the creative process and more during a fun-filled and educational assembly.
