As Supt. Copeland shared on August 6, LMSD will begin the school year with fully remote instruction through at least October 5, 2020. At that time, depending on the public health situation, we may begin to bring students back into our buildings. We know that many families have indicated that even if our buildings reopen, they would prefer to keep their children at home. To support those families, our District is offering two fully remote options for this school year.
The first is the Lower Merion Virtual Academy (LMVA), which is being offered in partnership with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. You can learn more about that option here. Registration for LMVA closes August 14, 2020. LMVA students will begin the school year in this option. Registration for LMVA is on a semester basis.
The second remote option is LMSD@Home, which is a fully remote option that will be taught by LMSD educators and follow our LMSD curriculum. You can learn more about LMSD@Home here. This section of our website includes a description of this program and a list of Frequently Asked Questions. We will be holding an (Zoom) information session about LMSD@Home. If you are considering this option, we urge you to attend this session. Once it is concluded, we will also be posting the video of the session on our website.
Because our staffing and class assignments are dependent on how many students choose each of these options, we are asking families who are interested in LMSD@Home to register for LMSD@Home by noon on August 17, 2020. Unlike the interest survey that we have already sent out, registration will be binding.
