Harriton High School junior Thomas Rosini recently defied the odds during an incredible run through the 2019 U.S. Junior Squash Championships at the Boar's Head Resort's McArthur Squash Center in Charlottesville, Virginia as he ultimately won the U19 National Title.
Rosini entered the tournament unseeded before making his way to the semi-finals where he upset top-ranked Ayush Menon by a tally of 12-10, 11-7, 11-8 and punched his ticket to the finals on the all-glass show court.
The tournament came to a close with the marathon boys' U19 final between Rosini and three-seed Dillon Huang. Huang appeared to be within reach of the title, going up 2-0 with scores of 11-6, 11-7. Rosini showed his resilience by battling back and edging Huang in the third set (11-8) before emphatically forcing a fifth game with a dominant 11-2 performance in the fourth. The score remained tight until Huang earned three championships balls up 10-7. Rosini defiantly fought off all three championship points and held on to clinch the title 12-10.
