Harriton High School and Welsh Valley Middle School recently joined forces in celebration of their outstanding choral programs at the first-ever Vertical Choral Concert Showcase in the Harriton auditorium.
Students and parents enjoyed performances from both the Welsh Valley and Harriton choirs under the direction of Ms. Mary Callaghan and Mr. Jazon Bizich, respectively, along with a grand finale featuring the combined groups. The evening served as an opportunity for the community to see how music education evolves as students progress through the various levels of the program.
Lower Merion School District has long been recognized for its outstanding music education programs and was recently awarded an eighth straight "Best Communities for Music Education" distinction. The Vertical Choral Concert Showcase was featured heavily in the District's application this year as an example of the incredible work being done by students and staff in music education programs throughout LMSD.
Students, parents and teachers were all an integral part of this evening and will remain an essential element of the rich music culture for which Harriton, Welsh Valley and the District is known. Throughout the evening, the audience was witness to the wide spectrum of talent and level of participation both schools have in the choral program across the secondary grade levels.
