Harriton Juniors Selected as Finalists in National Mathematics Competition
Harriton Juniors Selected as Finalists in National Mathematics Competition

The Actuarial Foundation recently announced that four Harriton High School students have been named finalists in the 2021 Modeling the Future Challenge. This national scholarship competition provides an opportunity for high school students to take on the role of aspiring actuaries and present their own mathematical models to a panel of actuary judges detailing how a new technology or industry might change the future.

The Harriton team - comprised of eleventh graders Owen Lester, Noah Braunfield, Jason Dichter and Miles Gee – was selected as a finalist from a total of 193 teams of high school juniors and seniors from throughout the United States. The Rams will now present their mathematical models at the 2021 Modeling the Future Challenge Virtual Symposium, which will take place on April 22-23, as they compete for $55,000 in scholarship awards.

While this year's symposium will be virtual due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, finalists will have the opportunity to meet with actuaries and other business leaders, learn about college and career opportunities, and have a little fun!
