Lower Merion School District recently hosted the English Language Development (ELD) Literacy Luau – an annual event which serves as an opportunity for the District's English Language Learners and their families - who speak upwards of 30 different languages - to meet ELD teachers, learn about the community, discuss shared experiences and celebrate cultural diversity.
Spearheaded by ELD Coordinator Dawn Chapman, the evening began as students and their families socialized while enjoying dinner before participating in fun-filled and educational literacy-related activities. Members of the LMHS buildOn community team were also on-hand to help facilitate the games and activities with those in attendance. Following the dinner and activities, students and parents gathered for an introductory presentation to the District and to learn about graduation requirements, post-graduation options and more!
