Empowerment, Diversity, Creativity take Center Stage at Cynwyd
Empowerment, Diversity, Creativity take Center Stage at Cynwyd

Cynwyd Elementary School recently welcomed Hip Hop Fundamentals – an award-winning team of diverse professional breakdancers who are truly passionate about hip hop education – for a fun-filled and engaging cultural enrichment assembly. The members of Hip Hop Fundamentals are certified teacher artists, seasoned performers, battle-tested dancers and excellent entertainers who bring their shows to the next level by welcoming and encouraging audience participation.

Throughout the program, Hip Hop Fundamentals used interactive dance to explore Hip Hop's rich cultural history and how an underserved inner-city youth changed the world. The show also focused on youth empowerment, diversity, creativity and team work, embodied by the four core principles of Hip Hop: peace, love, unity and having fun!

LMSD's Strategic Plan, "All Forward," provides a framework for a collective, intentional and positive approach to change. Its five aspirational pathways guide us toward continual innovation and transformation to further educational excellence for every student. This program serves as an example of Strategic Pathway #2: Transformative Curriculum. To learn more about #LMSDAllForward and the Strategic Pathways, click here.
