Dragons & Knights Hit the Hardwood During 'Clash of the Kingdom'

The Bala Cynwyd Knights and Welsh Valley Dragons eighth grade boys and girls basketball teams recently went head-to-head on the hardwood during their annual Spirit Games, which took place in the Bryant Gymnasium at Lower Merion High School. Students and staff, faculty and families, all came out in droves to support their respective sides during a fun-filled evening celebrating this long-standing and good-spirited inter-District rivalry.

This year's "Clash of the Kingdom" featured a pair of tightly contested games as both bouts went down to the wire keeping fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish. When the final buzzers sounded, however, it was Welsh Valley that came out on top as the Dragons secured and celebrated a pair of hard-fought victories.

Regardless of the outcomes, both teams and all those in attendance exhibited consummate civility and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the night making this year's Spirit Games another great success! Bala Cynwyd will look to rebound next year as the venue will shift to the Highlander Gym at Harriton School.

Overheard throughout the evening were questions regarding the future of the Spirit Games with Black Rock Middle School officially opening its doors at the start of 2022-23 school year. What does the future hold for the "Clash of the Kingdom" when the Royals are thrown in to the mix with the Knights and Dragons?
