Penn Wynne Students Win at Barnes Museum's Art of Math Competition

Students from Penn Wynne Elementary School were recognized for the creativity of their entries in the Barnes Museum's "Art of Math" Contest. Their entries were displayed, and the students were recognized, at the museum on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

For the contest, the students had to apply mathematical concepts to create a three-dimensional model of one of three artworks from the museum's collection.

In addition to the models, the students submitted a written statement explaining the concepts and formulas they used during their collaborative creative process. 

Penn Wynne submitted five entries, two of which won first-place awards for mathematical creativity. In all, some 450 students from across the area submitted about 80 entries.
