LM Track and Field Shines at States

Members of the Lower Merion High School track and field team continued their banner year by turning in multiple Top Ten finishes at the state championships at Shippensburg University on May 22-23, 2026. 

Viola Wilent won the state championship with her 14-foot pole vault, while Alex and Nick Mazzeo came in first and second respectively in the 3200-meter race. 

Other great finishes came from Paige Evans, who was fourth in the 400-meter dash; the team of Nick Mazzeo, Pierce Wilson, Alex Mazzeo and Owen Davis, who came in sixth in the 4x800 meter relay; and the team of Viola Wilent, Lucy Roper, Ava Shippen-Smith and Paige Evans, who finished eighth in the 4x400 relay.
