Dr. Ranelli to Recommend Ms. Sara Campbell for Assistant Principal at Lower Merion High School

Dr. Ranelli shared the letter below with the
Lower Merion High School Community Friday afternoon, May 1, 2026

Dear Lower Merion High School Community,

I am writing to let you know that at the May meeting of the Lower Merion Board of School Directors, I will be recommending Sara Campbell as an Assistant Principal for Lower Merion High School, following the retirement of Jon Fadely.

Ms. Campbell is currently LM’s Athletics and Activities Director, after having served as Assistant AD and teaching biology at LM since 2018. We are beginning the search process for a new athletics and activities director, to ensure continuity of programs pending the Board’s approval of my recommendation.

In all her roles at LM, Ms. Campbell has demonstrated that she has the leadership qualities and deep understanding of student needs that will enable her to excel in this new position. She is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive school climate while supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.

She began her professional career as a chemist after graduating cum laude from Gettysburg College with a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies. She returned to school to earn her master’s in secondary science education from Slippery Rock University and then earned a master’s in educational leadership and K-12 principal certification from PennWest University.  Prior to joining LMSD, she taught biology at Slippery Rock High School.

I have already the opportunity to work with Ms. Campbell, and I am confident that the leadership team of Dr. Johnson, Mr. Capkin, Ms. de Franco and Dr. Hopkins will serve Lower Merion’s students and families with excellence.

Sincerely,

Dr. Frank Ranelli
Superintendent
