Ten stellar Lower Merion High School students recently took part in the 13th Annual Amazing Ace Competition – a fun-filled and entertaining evening where the participants contend for the title of “The Amazing Ace” while raising funds for a collection of worthy causes.
The theme of this year’s show was Lost in Space as each contestant, representing a planet or moon within the solar system, made their case to the judges and audience why their respective planet would be the best place for the Aces to resettle. Ultimately, it was senior Inbal David, the representative of Saturn, whose out-of-this-world performance persuaded the judges that not only was her planet the best option for relocation, but that she was worthy of the title of The Amazing Ace!
On her course to the crown, David and the rest of this year's all-star contestants – seniors Thanos Daniilidis, Julian DeSimone, Grady Gardner, Camille Halbert, Alveena Khoday, Jacob Ross and Amber Wong, along with juniors Simona Fisher and Daniel Vossough - participated in a series of entertaining events including a catwalk, hip-hop dance, question-and-answer session, talent portion, partner dance and more.
So far, this year’s event has raised more than $26,000 (DONATE HERE) benefiting Philabundance, Planned Parenthood, American Association of Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Teacher’s Teammates, Maternity Care Coalition, HIAS Pennsylvania, The Trevor Project and the Hi, How Are You Project.
Part of the proceeds from the event will also go to the Sean Hughes Memorial Trust, in loving memory of long-time Amazing Ace emcee and LMHS Principal Sean Hughes. Donations can still be made to any or all of the charities on the Amazing Ace fundraising page.
