The Harriton Theater Company recently received nearly 30 nominations for distinctions across a variety of categories in both The Cappies and The Philadelphia Independence Awards, a pair of programs that aim to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work done by high school theater students. Ultimately, the Rams brought home five awards for their fall and spring productions, Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and She Loves Me by Joe Masteroff.
As a member school of The Cappies' Greater Philadelphia chapter, Harriton and other participating high schools select anywhere from three to nine students for a critic team. After receiving training in theater criticism and review writing, they attend plays and musicals at other high schools in their area before writing write reviews and, towards the end of the school year, ultimately vote on the awards. The Rams received 13 nominations for their fall production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
