Students dressed in the school colors of red and white packed into the Harriton High School main gym Friday afternoon for a pep rally to wrap up Spirit Week and kick off Homecoming Weekend.
They were greeted by the drum line, whose performance was followed by routines from the cheerleaders, the introduction of the fall sports teams and a student/staff obstacle course competition.
The students won as members of both teams had to run through a ladder, crawl under wrestling mats stacked on chairs, jump over a big box, sit on a scooter to navigate a serpentine course and finally successfully make a basketball layup. The staff team took an early lead, but were eclipsed by the student team late in the relay.
The pep rally was capped off with a uniquely Harriton tradition, a performance by members of the Latin Club. The Latin Club students held a dance off between those performing to "Baby Shark" and those performing to "Monster Mash" to the loud cheers of their classmates.
The drum line wrapped up the event with several spirited selections.
Harriton's boys' and girls' soccer teams and the girls' field hockey team are all headed to playoffs. The football team takes on Upper Darby Friday night for the homecoming game and all of the students are invited to the Homecoming Dance Saturday night.
