The Harriton High School Student Council recently hosted the 17th Annual "Dr. Harriton" in front of a sold-out crowd of students, staff, family and friends in the Rams' auditorium. This school-wide fundraiser and talent competition is Harriton’s flagship event, routinely raising tens of thousands of dollars for a variety of important causes and initiatives.
This year was no different as the student organizers ultimately amassed more than $60,000 for a pair of great causes: the Lower Merion Township Scholarship Fund (LMTSF), which provides need-based scholarships and funding for after-school programs, and Jerseys4Kids, a non-profit created by Harriton sophomore Massi Agosti, which supports children battling cancer by gifting them autographed jerseys from their favorite athletes, while also raising funds for pediatric cancer research.
Agosti launched the Jersey4Kids initiative while battling osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. When it came time for Student Council to decide which organizations to support this year, Agosti’s courage and dedication to brightening the days of other teenagers and children with cancer made it an easy decision.
The ten talented students competing for this year's coveted title of Dr. Harriton were Jack Lesser, Jack Mattikow, Nox Mistry, Elizabeth Clancy, Palmer Zarzycki, Dylan Becker, Josh Markowitz, Sloan Steinberg, Lucas Kallendar, Blake Newman and eventual champion Noah Ufberg, who ultimately earned the crowd and judges’ votes with his superb singing voice and peerless piano playing.
Congratulations to Noah on being named this year's Dr. Harriton and to the entire Harriton community on yet another awesome event!
