Musical Mustangs Debut Merion's New School Song

Merion Elementary School fourth graders recently started the New Year on a high note, showcasing their musical talents during the Fourth-Grade Winter Music Concert!

The students wowed the audience with their instrumental and vocal skills, performing classics like Ode to Joy on recorders, harmonizing to Dona Nobis Pacem, and even incorporating American Sign Language (ASL) into their rendition of Light a Candle for Peace.

Some students played soothing songs like Moonlight as part of the Chimes Ensemble, while the bucket band - creatively named the Found Sound Sensations - demonstrated how everyday items can be transformed into musical instruments with a little imagination.

A standout moment of the evening was the fourth graders’ performance of Coldplay’s Sky Full of Stars, featuring vibrant finger lights and a dazzling conclusion where they spelled out “MERION” in glowing marquee lights.

The grand finale of the night was the debut of Merion’s brand-new school song, We Are the Merion Mustangs, composed by music teachers Tressa Joseph and Marita McCarthy and arranged by Millie Hayman.

The song is an uplifting and empowering anthem that celebrates resilience, self-belief and school pride. With lyrics that emphasize perseverance, success and belonging, it inspires the Merion community to embrace their strengths and shine together as a united team!
