Merion Celebrates Diversity with "Cultural Heritage Showcase"

Merion Elementary School recently developed a Cultural Heritage Showcase to provide students with another opportunity to highlight their family history and celebrate the diversity of their community!

As part of this parent-led initiative, which is meant to serve as an extension of one of Merion’s flagship events - Cultural Heritage Night - interested students and parents/guardians will have the opportunity to sign up for a specific week when they can organize an exhibit of their family's cultural background in the front-hallway display case of the school.

The featured culture will also be incorporated into class lessons and daily activities, such as Assistant Principal Sean Donovan sharing a greeting in the respective country's native language and the library curating weekly displays with books about and related to the culture and country in question.

One of the recent featured countries was Ukraine where hello is Привіт! (Pry'vit!) The Cultural Heritage Showcase is just one of many amazing ways the Merion community continues to build belonging! #LMSDBuildingBelonging
