Aces Kickoff Winter Season at Maroon Madness

Lower Merion High School recently hosted Maroon Madness – the Aces' annual community pep rally for winter athletics and activities featuring music, live entertainment, performances, food, raffles and more. As always, Aces Nation showed up in full force for this fun-filled event, which doubles as a fundraiser for a worthy cause. All proceeds raised from this year’s festivities will benefit The Sean A. Hughes Children's Trust and Sean Hughes Memorial Fund, honoring the memory of the late, great Lower Merion principal.

Program highlights from this year's event included the introduction of the varsity basketball teams, an intra-squad scrimmage, student dances, on-court fan contests, musical entertainment and raffles for merchandise. The evening also featured a special performance from the Philadelphia 76er's Drum Line, who put on an inspired performance prior to tipoff of the scrimmage.

Lower Merion head basketball coaches Gregg Downer and Erin Laney, along with the captains of their respective teams, addressed the crowd and thanked everyone in attendance for their support. Following the introductions and remarks, the Aces took the court for a fast-paced scrimmage, which was interspersed with entertaining performances from various clubs and teams.

The event was planned and organized by the LMHS Student Council under the direction and leadership of club sponsor and Spanish teacher, Mr. Sean Capkin. To view a slideshow of pictures from this year's event, click on the image below!
