Lower Merion Wrestlers Shine in Postseason Competition

Lower Merion High School wrestlers delivered an impressive performance at the recent PIAA District One Championships, earning four top-five finishes across multiple weight classes!

Lower Merion High School eleventh-grader Keegan Daley and seniors Tamir Griffin and Charlie Welgs each earned bronze medals in the 145-, 189-, and heavyweight divisions, respectively, while fellow Ace Sam Soeffing, a twelfth-grader, rounded out the podium placements with a fifth-place finish at 160 pounds.

For their efforts, the wrestlers qualified for the Southeast AAA Regional Championships, recently held at Oxford Area High School, where they each secured victories along the way. Tamir Griffin reached the podium with a fifth-place finish at 189 pounds.

Griffin will return to the mat this week as he goes head-to-head with Pennsylvania’s best at the PIAA State Championships, March 5–7 at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Best of luck to Tamir, and congratulations to all the wrestlers and coaches on a great season!
