LMSD Welcomes Back Students for the 2024-25 School Year!

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Lower Merion School District proudly kicked off the 2024-25 academic year, welcoming back more than 8,600 students across its eleven schools. The first day was filled with excitement as students participated in school tours, icebreaker activities, class assemblies and reconnected with friends after summer break.

This year’s opening day was a bit different from years past with the introduction of LMSD’s Smart Start initiative, which allows for a later start time for high schools, better aligning with adolescents’ changing circadian rhythms according to research from various health organizations.

Once again, we invited everyone to share their own first day photos with us on social media using the hashtag #LMSD1stDay. The first link below includes the submissions received through social media as of Wednesday morning, but we will continue to update the post throughout the week as more entries come in! Thank you to everyone who participated!

We hope all students, staff and families enjoy a happy and healthy start to the school year!
