LMSD Elementary Hoopers Win 4th Grade State Basketball Championship

A youth boys basketball team composed of fourth graders from Lower Merion School District recently participated in the 2024 State Championship Basketball Tournament held at Penn State University where they went undefeated (5-0) en route to claiming this year's crown!

In order to qualify for the state championship tournament, teams had to participate in and win an associated league or tournament championship. The fourth-grade Penn Valley Junior Sports Association (PVJSA) travel team qualified for this year’s state tournament after winning gold at the Inter-County Basketball Association (ICBA) King of Court Tournament this past winter.

And making the teams’ ties to the District even stronger, the squad was coached by former Welsh Valley Middle Schooler and Harriton High School alumna (2019) Christina Brown, who starred for the Rams’ basketball team and is a member of the prestigious 1,000-Point Club. Serving as assistant coach was Christina’s father, Kenny Brown. Congratulations to Coach Brown and the team on a tremendous season!
