Lower Merion School District (LMSD) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation by The NAMM Foundation, recognizing the District's outstanding support for and commitment to music education. This is the fifteenth consecutive year LMSD has earned this distinction!
Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate exceptional achievement in providing access to comprehensive music education for all students.
To qualify, LMSD completed a detailed survey covering funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instructional time, facilities, program support and community music-making initiatives. All responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by the leading arts education research firm WolfBrown.
LMSD has long been recognized for the strength and depth of its music programs, which include:
- Instrumental and choral ensembles at all grade levels
- Music theater programs at all levels
- Advanced course offerings, including AP Music Theory and IB Music
- Co-curricular enrichment opportunities
- Award-winning middle and high school ensembles
