LM’s Nick Mazzeo Sets State Record, Earns All-American Honors

Lower Merion High School’s Nick Mazzeo recently competed at the 2025 New Balance National Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where the eleventh-grader delivered a record-breaking performance in the 2000-meter steeplechase.
Mazzeo finished fourth in the nation, earning All-American honors. He crossed the finish line in a time of 5:52.04, setting a new Pennsylvania state record in the event — shattering the previous mark by more than four seconds. His time also stands as the fastest in the country this year among all high school juniors.
Remarkably, this was only Mazzeo’s second time ever competing in a steeplechase event, according to MileSplit.
