LMHS Hosts Annual American Red Cross Blood Drive

Lower Merion High School’s Bryant Gymnasium recently played host to the Aces’ annual Community Blood Drive benefiting the American Red Cross, as students, staff and community members came out in droves to support this year’s event.

Ninety students helped organize the drive under the guidance of LMHS teachers Michael Paul and the legendary Sandy Hoopes, who has overseen this massive yearly undertaking for four decades. (The first blood drive Hoopes led was in 1983!)

The event would not have been possible without the tremendous leadership demonstrated by the student organizers throughout the entire process — from the earliest planning stages to the day-of operations.

All told, the Aces collected upward of 100 pints of blood, which will help save hundreds of lives throughout the Greater Philadelphia area in the weeks and months ahead.
