LMHS buildOn Raises $3K+ for Sean Hughes Memorial Fund

Lower Merion High School’s buildOn club recently held their annual pie-sale fundraiser in partnership with Linvilla Orchards, through which the Aces raised a whopping $3,108.40 for the Sean Hughes Memorial Fund! The students sold hundreds of pies in the weeks leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, led by this year’s top-sellers Abbey McGrew, Josh Katz and Elia Bonita, who sold 32, 28 and 26 pies, respectively!

At a recent club meeting, buildOn’s student-officers presented a check to LMHS Assistant Principal Karen deFranco, who serves as a member of the Sean A. Hughes Memorial Fund Steering Committee. The money will help finance a beautiful, multi-part tribute to the late, great principal on the Aces’ campus, which is described in detail here.

Along with the pie-sale fundraiser, Lower Merion buildOn students have been busy as always throughout the first half of the school year, volunteering to support a variety of estimable initiatives, programs and non-profits throughout the Greater Philadelphia area. Some of the projects the Aces have donated their time and energy to include the Jewish Relief Agency (JRA), Cradles to Crayons, Easterseals, Emily’s Entourage, Gladwyne Jewish Cemetery, Linwood Park, Main Line School Night, Rise Against Hunger, multiple academic assistance and tutoring initiatives and many more!
