Information about Accessing and Supporting Local Food Resources

Dear LMSD Community,

Some members of our community are currently at increased risk of food insecurity. Many employees of the federal government are not getting paid and those who receive SNAP benefits may not receive their November benefits due to the current government shutdown.

First, I want to assure you that all students in LMSD can get a free breakfast every school day. Those who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch will continue to receive free lunches at this time. If your family has experienced a change in economic status, you may apply for free or reduced meals here.

Below, you will find a list of community organizations that provide support to those experiencing food insecurity. If your family is in need, please consider reaching out to one of these organizations for help. If your family is able to donate to support these organizations’ ongoing work, I hope you’ll consider that as well.

Finally, if your child may need some extra support at school due to food insecurity or other stressors, remember that the members of our Student Services Department, including school counselors, psychologists and social workers, are there to help.

Have a great weekend!

Dr. Frank Ranelli
Superintendent
