Harriton Science Olympiad Claims Crown, Aces Excel at State Competiton

Students from both Harriton and Lower Merion high schools represented Lower Merion School District with excellence at the 2025 Pennsylvania Science Olympiad State Tournament, held recently at Penn State Altoona. Competing against the top teams from across the Commonwealth, both schools delivered standout performances that highlighted their dedication to STEM education and academic teamwork.

Harriton High School continued its legacy of success by capturing first place overall and earning a bid to the 2025 National Science Olympiad, which will be held May 23–24 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The team earned 12 gold medals across 23 events, with five students—Amy Luo, Charlotte Laetsch, Jayne Chen, Rebecca Ives, and Roha Herial—achieving perfect days by winning gold in every event they competed in.

The Aces also had an outstanding showing, finishing third overall—one of the team’s best performances to date. LMHS students earned medals in multiple events through their impressive collaboration, problem-solving and STEM expertise.

Over the past 30 Pennsylvania Science Olympiad state competitions, the Rams have secured an incredible 25 state championships. This remarkable achievement underscores Harriton’s consistent excellence in STEM education, its commitment to fostering a strong scientific community and the dedication of its exceptional educators. Notably, Harriton achieved a streak of 16 consecutive state titles from 1998 through 2013, marking a period of sustained dominance in the competition.Click on the links below to see the respective results for each school!
