Happy Special Education Day!

On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Lower Merion School District joins communities across the nation in celebrating Special Education Day, marking the anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), signed into law in 1975. This landmark legislation opened doors for millions of students, ensuring access to a free and appropriate public education and affirming the rights, dignity and potential of every learner.

Today, we honor the tremendous progress made in special education and celebrate the dedicated administrators, educators, support staff and families who work each day to empower students with disabilities. Their commitment, creativity and advocacy make our schools more inclusive, more responsive and more effective places to learn and grow!
