Dr. Ranelli, LMSD's New Superintendent, Shares a Letter with the Community

Dear LMSD Community,

My name is Dr. Frank Ranelli and I am very excited to introduce myself as your new Superintendent. If you haven’t seen it already, you can find information about my work experience and a short professional biography here.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Larry Mussoline and Ms. Megan Shafer for their work as interim superintendents for the past ten months. Their tireless efforts have allowed the District to flourish during very challenging times. Since my appointment to the position in January, I have spent some time in Lower Merion visiting schools and getting to know people in various positions. I would also like to thank the rest of the Cabinet members, Administrators and staff members I have met for making me feel so welcome!!

LMSD is one of the finest school communities in the Commonwealth and it is evident as soon as you step into our schools. Throughout my visits, I immediately noticed great school cultures, wonderful school spirit, clean and bright buildings, and engaging teaching and learning. I am looking forward to working with our quality educators to continue the LMSD traditions and to strengthen our practices in the months and years ahead.

Through consistent leadership, transparent communication and compassion, I am committed to creating an environment where all students and staff feel safe, feel accepted for who they are, and have equal access to all LMSD has to offer. Also, during these challenging times, I would like to take a moment to echo the statement shared by Dr. Mussoline and the Board in February reaffirming the District’s commitment to uphold our policies to ensure a true sense of belonging for all.

I am truly honored to be part of the LMSD family. Thank you to the Lower Merion Board of School Directors for their confidence in me. I look forward to the good work that lies ahead.

Sincerely,

Dr. Frank Ranelli
Superintendent
