“Building Blocks” Video Series: Student Perspective

In the fifth installment of the Building Blocks series, Director of School & Community Relations Amy Buckman and Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Shawanna James-Coles briefly recap how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion serve as the foundation, or Building Blocks, for building belonging in Lower Merion School District.

Buckman and James-Coles then introduce students from Harriton’s POWER Scholars Program and Lower Merion’s Becton Scholars Program, who recently attended a leadership summit organized by the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity, where the Aces and Rams had the opportunity to engage with other students about ways to make a positive impact in their schools and communities. The students were asked what they thought the District could do to increase the sense of belonging for all students in our schools.
