Belmont Hills Welcomes Meteorologist & Children's Author Brittney Shipp

Belmont Hills Elementary School recently welcomed NBC10 First Alert Meteorologist Brittney Shipp, who spoke with students about her dynamic career and her newly released children’s book, Drippity Drop: The Rapping Raindrop!

In her book, Drippity Drop, a rapping raindrop, answers the Winters family's weather questions with engaging, instructive rhymes. He explains how rain turns to snow, why thunder is so loud, and offers important storm safety tips for kids.

Brittney also shared insights from her earlier book, The Meteorologist in Me, an inspirational illustrated tale about a little girl named Summer with big dreams of becoming a TV meteorologist. This uplifting story encourages kids to believe in themselves and pursue their goals — no matter what obstacles they may face.

A five-time Emmy®-nominated and Emmy Award-winning journalist, Brittney is passionate about educational outreach, increasing diversity in children's literature, and closing the gender gap in STEM careers. Through school visits, mentoring, and volunteering, she inspires young girls and students to explore weather and science-related fields.
