BC & Welsh Valley Musicians Complete 30-Day Practice Challenge

As part of Music in Our Schools Month this March, instrumentalists at Bala Cynwyd and Welsh Valley Middle Schools took on a special 30-Day Practice Challenge!

The initiative—designed and implemented by BC and WV music teachers Albert Homicz and Carmen Vieytez—was orchestrated to help students build consistency and routine in their at-home practice habits. Students received Practice Challenge Bingo Cards to track their daily practice and log their progress, whether they were working on ensemble music or honing technical skills.

Nearly 300 instrumentalists across both schools participated in the challenge. And while not everyone was able to practice every single day, students made impressive progress thanks to their heightened focus and dedication. Remarkably, nearly three dozen students practiced every day throughout the entire month of March! The students pictured here are those who successfully completed the full 30-Day Challenge.

Mr. Homicz noted that the increased focus on individual improvement in March has already paid off—rehearsals in April have been sounding absolutely fantastic!
