On Friday night, January 26, 2024, the gods descended on Lower Merion High School as the auditorium was transformed into Mt. OlympACE for the annual Amazing Ace competition.
The contestants, each representing a mythological god, were seniors Elias Dutwin (Poseidon), Danielle Esan (Apollo), Klara Hinze (Athena), Charlie Kurland (Hermes), Chloe Mills (Demeter), Kayden Weinstock (Aphrodite) and juniors Talia Kasner (Artemis) and Leonor Pheulpin (Hades).
Using their all their godlike skills, the contestants competed in events including a catwalk, a hip-hop dance, a Q & A session, a talent demonstration and a partner dance. LM's a cappella group Ace Harmony and the LM Dance Team also performed for the packed house.
The competition is one of Lower Merion High School’s major fundraising events, with each contestant choosing a charity to which their supporters donate. Beneficiary organizations included the Sean A. Hughes Memorial Fund, Planned Parenthood, the ASPCA, the Sierra Club Foundation, UNICEF, Save A Child’s Heart Foundation, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Cobbs Creek Foundation.
At the end of the evening, the sun shone on Apollo, Danielle Esan, who was crowned Amazing Ace 2024. But the real winners are the organizations that benefit from the fundraising – a total estimated at nearly $9,000. For photos from the amazing evening, click through the slide show below!
