Black Rock Student Wins Math Competition

Congratulations are in order for Black Rock Middle School sixth grader Max Baxter. He recently took top honors at a national math competition for deaf and hard of hearing students at the Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

Max competed on a team with 3 other students from different Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) schools. At the regional competition, he and the rest of the MCIU team placed first, with Max winning the individual first place as the top scorer in the competition.

The weekend of April 5-6, 2025, at the national competition in New York, the MCIU team placed second overall and Max took the top prize in the individual competition.

Way to go, Max and Team MCIU -- you made us all so proud!
