Simon Hauger

Simon HaugerSimon Hauger is an engineer turned high school math and science teacher and more recently, principal. He began the Hybrid X Team at West Philadelphia High School 15 years ago to engage his students in math, science and engineering. The students in the after-school program have won multiple national competitions with the hybrid vehicles they designed and built. Their vehicles have outperformed top Universities and corporations. In 2010 and 2014, Simon's students were honored at the White House.

The innovative approach to education that powered the Hybrid X Team to success is the basis for a new school that Simon and his colleagues have begun. The Workshop School challenges students to solve the worlds most pressing problems, and organizes teaching and learning in service of doing so.

Phil Hayes

Phil Hayes

Phil Hayes is a Twitter Data Scientist, web designer, programmer, and entrepreneur. While still in college, Phil founded TAVtech, a Tel Aviv based coding academy for top students from NYU, Harvard, Brown, Cornell, and MIT. Phil shortly thereafter founded Code for the Planet, an organization that seeks to promote impactful technical educational experiences for socially­motivated students. Phil is a recent graduate of the NYU Stern School of Business, where he studied Finance and served as Senior Class President.

Mark Levy

Why philosophy should be taught in all schools - Mark Levy is an educator with over 20 years experience in high schools in England and America. He also works in informal education at Hebrew School and summer camp.

Mr. Levy is a graduate of The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Scranton. His master's thesis explored the dangers of the growth of moral relativism at all levels of education, something he continues to be passionate about. Mr. Levy has also always been concerned with combating far right extremism, supporting free speech and campaigning for Jewish political issues.

Dafna Ofer

Dafna Ofer

Dr. Ofer earned her medical degree at Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv University in Israel. She completed her pediatric residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. She completed a sleep medicine fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Ofer is board certified in Pediatrics and in Sleep medicine. She is a member of the Sleep Research Society (SRS) as well as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). In addition to adult sleep disorders, Dr. Ofer specializes in Pediatric and adolescent sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, hypersomnolence disorders, movement disorders, parasomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, insomnia and behavioral sleep disorders.

Dr. Ofer plays an integral role in the clinical and academic development of fellows in sleep medicine in both adult and pediatric disciplines.
