Dinosaur Eggs

Most dinosaurs hatched from eggs. Some of the eggs were smaller than a lemon but some were as big as a basketball or a watermelon! No one knows what colors the eggs were, but eggs came in many shapes and sizes. Some were round and some were long and oval. Some had hard shells and some had soft rubbery shells.

Dinosaur mothers laid their eggs in nests on the ground or buried the eggs under the ground. The mothers probably guarded their nests to keep egg-stealing dinosaurs away. Some parents took care of their babies after they hatched and other hatchlings seem to have been able to survive on their own.
