Stock Market Simulation
Stock Market Simulation
What is the risk throughout a life span of investing only in the stock market?” Answering this essential question was the task of the students in Lower Merion High School’s Consumer Education class. With the help of SIMUSTOCK (http://www.simustock.com), an online stock market game, the students had the opportunity to experience the risk of investing $10,000.00 in the stock market. A class drop box was set up in which students could place professional opinions, and current events research to share with each other. At the end of the three month period of investigation, students presented their responses to the essential question in the form of an i-movie, created from I-photo, and viewed by the class. Each i-movie had to incorporate the following: 15 photos, 1 title page, 1 theme, 3 transitions, 1 credit and a graph of their stock market experience. Students used copyright free websites and cameras to create their photos. The graphs were created in Excel and transferred with the application Grab into i-photo. Students also created a personal storyboard that was entered into their i- movie via the use of headset microphones. Once the voice was entered as a sound effect, music from Garage Band or a 30 second clip from i-tunes was added as the finishing touch.
