Harriton Senior Project
Each student will be assigned to a faculty advisor with whom he/she must meet on a scheduled basis from January through June. The faculty advisor’s role is to guide the student through the following stages:
Stage 1: Introduction (To understand the big picture of the project)
· Assignment 1: What do I have to do to pass the senior project?
Stage 2: Identifying an Interest (To make the project personally meaningful)
· Assignment 2: What do I have to do to make the senior project meaningful for me?
Stage 3: Establishing an Essential Question (To drive the project)
· Assignment 3: What do I know about and how will I learn about my area of interest?
Stage 4: Finding a Mentor/Placement (To ensure a good experience)
· Assignment 4: Submitting your essential question.
· Assignment 5: How do I use my personal network to find a mentor/placement?
Stage 5: Preparing for Placement (To identify skills to be used during experiential learning phase)
· Assignment 6: Submit your form for placement.
· Assignment 7: How has the skill of reflection prepared me for my placement?
Stage 6: Experiential Learning Phase (To probe the essential question)
· Assignment 8: What have you learned through the skill of reflection during your experiential learning phase?
Stage 7: Final Presentation, Demonstration, or Performance (To answer questions)
· Assignment 9: Give presentation, demonstration, or performance
· Assignment 10: Submit outside mentor forms.
