State Capitol welcomes LM's "FIRST" family
Members of the LMHS Robotics Team 1712 "Dawgma" recently traveled to the State Capitol in Harrisburg to participate in "Harrisburg FIRST Day." The event featured demonstrations and displays by several teams from around the state in the Rotunda; a press conference that included business partners, FIRST staff, and several PA Representatives to launch the Harrisburg FIRST initiative; and a chance to see the State House of Representatives in session. Team members were able to show off their robot, "Deuce," and spread the word about the FIRST Robotics program to state legislators and capital guests. They also had an opportunity to share expertise with other teams, and help educate Central PA about the virtues of FIRST through the local media.
Dawgma is a part of Lower Merion's successful Technology & Engineering Club that competes in TSA, FIRST, F1, and a variety of other engineering and design competitions. Dawgma will make its next public appearance in competition at "Ramp Riot," a one-day off-season FIRST event held at Wissahickon HS on November 10, 2007. All are welcome to attend, there is no admission fee.
