  • HHS team wins Robotics championship; Two LMHS Dawgma teams win awards
On Saturday January 19, the MetalHeads from HHS were crowned champion of the Diamond State FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Competition held at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware, qualifying them to attend the FTC World Championship event to be held at the Georgia Dome in April. The HHS team qualified as the #1 seed and marched through the elimination rounds with alliance partners Team Overdrive and Occam's Engineers to win the event. Harriton's team members include Brittany Killen, Caitlin Shreiber, Mark Richman, and Erik Dixon.

Also making an outstanding showing were two LMHS FTC teams. Dawgma Maroon, won finalist honors with alliance partners from Upper Dublin HS and the Driven Robotics Club. Dawgma Black finished the day as a semi-finalist with partners from Emmaus HS and the Potomac School in VA while earning the Connect Award for its engineering outreach and community efforts.

The mission of the event is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership.

The MetalHeads are a part of the HHS TSA& Engineering Club and the Dawgma teams operate out of LMHS' Technology & Engineering Club.
