  • LMSD for Haiti

The Lower Merion School District community is working to support relief efforts in Haiti. Please visit the "Haiti Relief" section of the District website for regularly updated information about school-based and district-wide aid initiatives and ways to get involved.

How You Can Help
  • Funds collected at the district level will be directed to two specific charities: the American Red Cross and Yele Haiti. (Click on links to donate directly).
  • In 2004, the District created a disaster relief fund in response to the tsunami in Southeast Asia. The fund was maintained for future relief efforts and will be utilized for current school-based cash collections for Haiti. For community members who wish to give directly to this fund (with contributions distributed evenly with the American Red Cross and Yele Haiti), checks should be made payable to the LMSD Relief Fund c/o the Office of School & Community Relations, 301 E. Montgomery Ave., Ardmore, PA 19003.
  • School community members with questions or ideas should email info@lmsd.org and include "Haiti" in the subject line.

  • This week is Spirit Week at Welsh Valley and we have some fun days planned for our students that will culminate with Friday's Spirit Day Activities. But School Spirit runs much deeper than simply wearing school colors and supporting our peers, teams, and programs. True School Spirit is embodying the values for which our school community stands. Our goal for the week is to end Friday's Spirit Day with a $5,000 offering to the Haiti Relief fund on behalf of Welsh Valley. While this number sounds lofty, we believe it is achievable. We will have several campus organizations including Student Council, the World Affairs Club, and the Athletic Department combining their efforts with fundraisers throughout the week. Please consider having your child contribute to our school efforts to support Haiti Relief. Any amount will be appreciated. We will collect contributions daily throughout the week. We encourage you to write a check made payable to "Welsh Valley Middle School" with "Haiti" written in the memo.

The money earned will be sent to Unicef to buy Recreation Kits containing jump ropes, chalk, Frisbees, balls, books, etc for the children of Haiti.
