The Technology Department manages all areas of technology related to staff development, curriculum development, helpdesk support, purchasing, information systems, networking and infrastructure and network security. A full-time staff of 25 professionals support District-level and building-level technology initiatives.
LMSD has been recognized as a leader in the effort to promote effective use of technology in the classroom. Lower Merion was among the first districts in Pennsylvania to provide a completely wireless network at all facilities. The District's "Tech Mentor" program, a team-based staff development program that assists teachers in understanding and utilizing technology, has been featured as a model program at the nation's top education technology conferences.
A strategic technology plan guides all departmental functions and serves as the blueprint for technology in Lower Merion School District.
